where I explore a history of drawing machines from 17th century Japanese karakuri through clockwork automata, to electromechanical, electronic and digital devices, and ranging from court entertainments to scientific apparatus such as seismographs and cardiograms to 19th century harmonographs and artist projects.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-140\" src=\"http:\/\/www.garywarner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/NAS_circles.jpg\" alt=\"NAS_circles\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.garywarner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/NAS_circles.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.garywarner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/NAS_circles-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.garywarner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/NAS_circles-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Following the lecture is a series of hands-on demonstrations of various types of drawing machines, including my 3-pendulum harmonograph, various small &#8216;hack+play&#8217;
